Skirting is the last thing you should paint or varnish within a room, ideally once all the other paint has had time to dry, give the floor a vacuuming around the edges of the skirting, this will help to prevent debris sticking to the paint once applied.

The biggest problem with painting skirting boards is dirt and fluff off the floor sticking to the paint brush. Use a piece of cardboard under the skirting, this also protects the floor. Take care not to get paint on the walls when painting the top of the skirting, using masking tape or a paint shield if you need to. |
