Multi-purpose load...just call it birdshot already!
@Dvergamali No different powders have different power/explosiveness. Its not a one-for-one trade.
I hope this helps.
Here is my question, Can you measure the powder from the slug shell and simply add that much to the birdshot shell you are modifying? I do not have a press and reloader so this seems like an easy way to make nearly the same thing with the same power. I would just need to buy a little powder to make up the difference.
can you fire these in rifled barrels? thinking of making a slug gun I was thinking of starting with a rrifled choke. ATM I am using a imp. cyl choke. i noticed these do not fir through a full choke.
thanks for your vids. very informative. please keep it up
thank you very much!
yup. Rifled Shotgun Barrel means you shoot Sabot slugs, Smooth bore means you can shoot Rifled Slugs thru them. In this case, he is using a Keyslug, which works for Smoothbore. You can fire Sabot slugs thru Smooth bore barrel but you wont get the same accuracy as a rifled barrel. Also, the sabot slug fired from a smooth bore will cause keyholes.
smoothbore means its no rifled right?
as long as your shotgun is a smoothbore you can fire these things, so long as its the right gauge for it.
will these be ok to shoot out of my mossberg maverick? i dont wanna mess it up lol thanks
i did not know modifying already manufactured ammunition was legal.
i didnt know if it was illegal, either, though.
five stars. great info. thank you very much.
I'm a poo thrower! I'm just kidding Steve! Great job as usual!
God bless, Peace!!!
Great Idea ! 5 *
Where do you buy those tools at
I love it, great idea!!!!!!!!!
LOL
Yea I expect someone will not like this
;)
Ahhhh... a very good idea indeed and I do have a lot of shells to mod.
Thanks
:)
Excellent Steve!
Here is a free tip for you or you can send a check in the mail for my idea.
Take a hardwood board and Forstner Bit approxamately the same size as the end of the shell and drill a flat bottom shallow hole. Then take and mount a razor blade to the board to cut the end of the shell off.. Get the idea?
Peace!
Nice video, thanks.
Hi Steve, nice video.
I don't know what it costs in Colorado but in Ohio, when you buy the 100 round bulk pack, bird shot costs about 22 cents per round. It still costs about $1 per round for deer slugs.
End result, doing the slug conversion (at least where I live) is (almost) 1/5 the price of manufactured slugs (big savings).
Having a few bulk packs and a slug mold for a poo hits the fan scenario might be in order for the thrifty home defense buff.
Please make sure that this shell is been safty checked and NEVER point it @ yourself bla bla bla......... Nice vid, great info.
great information!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!
would it be safe to say that these modified rounds would be better for pump action shotgun use instead of semi-auto shotgun use or do you find that they will work in semi-autos as well?
I saw that you favoured Y-MAN's version of this a couple of weeks ago. Nice to see the update. Where is part 2?!
Chuck
i have done the same mods many years ago.
converting 1oz birdshot with a 1oz slug.
but for some reason pressures were a bit high, with the 1 ounce slug reloads. |
